This moment though 😂❤️

My Gramps: absolute legend, certified icon, and apparently still capable of partying from 8am until very late at 85.

This photo captures one of my favourite moments from the whole wedding. First proper dance-floor dance, surrounded by my brother, my husband and everyone we love… when I somehow managed to launch half my wedding dress directly at Gramps. Did he complain? Absolutely not. He disappeared under several layers of fabric, embraced the situation and carried on dancing like the true soldier he is 😂

But underneath the chaos, this photo means so much more to me.

Your kindness and generosity have never gone unnoticed. You’ve fostered children, cared for animals of every shape and size (including more than a few rescues), fixed pretty much anything that’s ever been put in front of you, and most importantly, you’ve always taught me to accept people, include people and make room for everyone.

You even taught me to tell the time from your hospital bed after having a massive stroke. And because apparently surviving that wasn’t impressive enough, you then went on to become an actual medical marvel, growing new arteries to help the blood flow around your heart. Honestly, showing off at this point.

You’ve been one of the greatest constants in my life and taught me a way of looking at the world that feels increasingly rare: be kind, be useful, include everyone, get on with it… and, evidently, never leave the dance floor early.

I appreciate everything you’ve taught me and everything you are.

Here’s to another 85 years — although at this rate, I genuinely wouldn’t put it past you. ❤️

There was one running joke throughout the wedding: how many dresses does one woman actually need?

The answer? Exactly as many as it takes.

Every piece had meaning. Some bits were elegant, some reflective of my personality, and some revolved entirely around finding underwear capable of housing my then double FFs which, frankly, deserves its own medal.

It was never about extravagance. It was about intention. How could I create the feeling I wanted without blowing the budget? How could I honour my Nan’s 1950 wedding style while still feeling completely like me?

My hen dress was @houseofcb … My legal wedding dress was a £90 vintage-inspired dream from the @nobodyschild sale. For getting ready, I had a custom Hollywood-inspired silk and ostrich feather gown made with pyjamas from a designer on @lucyamberlingerie because that moment deserved its own kind of glamour.

For the ceremony, I fell in love with a beautiful lace gown from @aaliyahquinnbridal. Then, six weeks later, I discovered @janehillbridal and knew I’d found the dress... just not at a price I could afford. So I asked, managed to buy a sample, paired it with custom gloves, and somehow the impossible became possible. And let’s not forget the team @zipyardmaidenhead who made each dress fit perfectly!

The accessories were just as considered: custom @jimmychoo Jimmy Choos for my very unapologetic size 9 feet, @aspinaloflondon diamonds, pearls and gold, a @viviennewestwood Westwood choker for the dancing, a @swarovski bracelet from my bridal party, and @ysl sunglasses and bag for a little fashion-editor moment.

I had a long time to think about this day, which meant I had a long time to visualise it. Not because I wanted perfection, but because I wanted to look in the mirror and feel completely and gloriously like a million dollars. And how you feel is most important - not what you spend.

If someone asked me what my personality is, I’d probably say... “starter, main, dessert.”

So when it came to planning a wedding, people assumed I’d obsess over the dress.

Absolutely not.

I obsessed over the menu.

Because when food has shaped your identity, your memories, and every family celebration you’ve ever had, it isn’t just another line in the wedding budget. It’s the reason everyone is in the room.

I’ve always known how lucky we’ve been. No matter what life threw at our families, there was always good food on the table. That’s a privilege I’ll never take for granted.

So if there was one thing I wasn’t willing to compromise on, it was the food.

Here’s how we made our wedding taste like us... ➡️

🥂 We celebrated Sardinia from the very first sip.

A Prosecco tower with the brilliant @vignetizanatta , local olive oil from @agriturismo_nacchinono_olbia , honey from @apiaddis_apicoltura ... and naturally, a mandatory limoncello shot. Some traditions simply aren’t negotiable.

🐟 The menu was built around our story. Fish had to be there because of the Grimsby roots. Lamb was non-negotiable after years of serving Sunday roasts in the pub. Lobster ravioli? Because we’re the kind of family who gets more excited about seafood than small talk.

🎂 Our cake skipped the stiff fondant and tiny bride-and-groom figurines. Instead, it celebrated everything we actually love: pastry, fresh fruit and clouds of cream. Priorities. Made by @hotel_ollastu_resort pastry kitchen

🥃 Drinks got the same treatment, with signature cocktails, independent whiskies and cigars for those wanting to end the evening in proper style. With @talisker storm , @bruadarliqueur , @cardhuwhisky and others

🍷 Every course was paired with local wines, the menus told the story behind the food, and our favours were traditional Italian confetti because... well... edible gifts will always beat novelty fridge magnets.

I’m ridiculously proud of the menu we created, and so grateful to the incredible team at Hotel Ollastu for patiently working through what felt like approximately 4,372 menu revisions (only a slight exaggeration).
