Today, up in the hills at Kahanda Kanda, that hum turned into a full-blown symphony.

The view alone could feed you, tea fields rolling out like waves, the sky stretched wide and smug in its perfection but the curries are what stopped us in our tracks.

✨ Parripu (Sri Lankan Dahl)
Golden, soothing, and layered with spice. Some families stir in coconut milk until it’s silky; others keep it punchy with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and chilies that don’t bother pretending to be polite. A bowl of quiet comfort that still knows how to make a point.

✨ Kukul Mas Curry (Sri Lankan Chicken Curry)
Rich, red, aromatic built on toasted spices, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper that hits exactly where it should. Depending on where you are in Sri Lanka, you’ll find versions cooked with roasted curry powders, creamy coconut milk, or spicy gravy that clings to the chicken like it means it. A dish that feels both delicious and familiar.

✨ Vambatu Curry (Eggplant Curry)
Eggplant turned velvet sweet, smoky, tangy, soft enough to collapse under a spoon. Some cooks add jaggery for that deep caramel note; others sharpen it with vinegar or extra spice. It’s a quiet marvel, a slow-burn kind of delicious.

Sri Lankan cuisine doesn’t show off it unfolds.

The food? Outrageously good. Ingredients grown right on the estate, fruit picked straight from the garden, and plates that wander between traditional Sri Lankan flavours and Western comfort favourites. I ate like a joyful menace with absolutely zero remorse.

Days blur together in the most delicious way: yoga studios, sparkling pools and plunge pools, and a spa that rebooted my entire nervous system (Ctrl+Alt+Del for the soul). The rooms are cloud-level comfy, beautifully detailed, and so private you could have @kimkardashian with you on the terrace and no one would interrupt you.
